Today, I found something very interesting abandoned in the woods while filming the CarTrek Christmas Special - a Dassault Falcon 900 - a private jet once worth over $25 million. Jared and I go inside and see what's left and what it could potentially take to bring it back. Spoiler alert - it's a LOT.

  • FYI, the wiring is mosly not copper but instead silver to withstand fatigue from constantly bending and growing and shrinking due to rapit temprature change

  • About the copper value of the wiring.... well.... actually it's aluminium wiring hahahah airplane use aluminium cables to reduce their weight (miles of cables weight a lot!!)

  • Wow i scrap. You are i am just having an educated guess. For sure 1 zero to muche hear. Let's say you take away the aloy. Ok 1000kg or 2000ibs. Copper, ok let's strip all the copper, I would be surprised if you have more then 500kg 1000ibs. What's left after that? Maybe 5g of gold, if you go into the time and cost to recover that. What's left, maybe 100 or so kg steel, 200ibs. I'm gona calculate in euros and kg. Aloy 1000kg = 700€ Copper 500kg = 2500€ Steal 100kg = 25€ ‐-------------------- Total 3225€ --------------------____________________ Thees prices are if you get a good price. So no were near your $750k $3928 minus the cost of geting it to a place you can take it apart, the cost of tools involved to cut apart the plain, gaz oxygen, disks blades etc. The cost involved to get rid of the rubbish you can't get payed for. Then you have to think the time it takes, probably if you are 2 people you can do it in one day. One refill acetylene oxygen, 300€ Blades and discs 200€ One day for an employee to help 200€ including charges ect So 3225€-700=2525€ minus taxes 45%. 1,388.75 profit, I did not calculate the cost to hall it allto the scrap yard. If I were to purchase this and it wasn't far from me, I would pay $200 a more then fair price considering the scale of the project. Realy you have no idea.

  • Falcon's use push rods instead of flight control cables, and the push rod transfer the control column inputs to the hydraulic actuators. There are 2 sets of push rods, 1 each for the pilot and co-pilot The "engine exhaust" is actually the hole for the S duct; an S shaped duct that makes up the center engine's intake. The "Service door" is the baggage door which has a small door to the lav just forward of the baggage compartment. The galley is usually, but not always at the front of the cabin, so food would be loaded at the main entrance door. The wing and the Fuel tank are the same thing and mate to the fuselage with nuts and bolts at that center box structure. The outer frame work are the attachment points for the wing to fuselage fairings that smooth out the airflow. Getting and A&P (Airframe & PowerPlant) certificate isn't that easy, there 2100 hours of instruction or equivalent work experience (either working under an A&P that will sign you off, or military experience) prior to testing; Then there's 3 each written tests, oral exam, and practical tests. There is not however any certification requirements for jet engine's in the usa; transport canada might and I know EASA has a separate cert. Pilots on the other hand would need a type rating to fly a falcon 900. Turbo prop engines do not have turbo chargers; There Jet engines that drive a propeller off of the accessory gear box. Jet engines love to operate at high altitude, that's were there the most efficient. Turbo props are designed to operate at medium to low altitudes. Ya I think the windows would be closter to 5 to 10 grand for a cabin window, and 10 to 20 for a cockpit window, Seats are typically 20 grand. Engines are about 11 million. Very little of the aluminum we use is pure, its far too soft; mostly we use 7075 is alloyed with zinc, copper, and manganese.

  • Honestly wouldn't be that hard to strip that down and build an interesting office or mini-home even. I've built my share of container houses ranging from one to ~six containers used among other things like vintage buses, both above ground and subterranean, and this seems like it wouldn't be anymore difficult than they were. It should be more than structurally sound, create a proper foundation for it and the rest is standard affair with reinsulating, running utilities, walling off for a bathroom, etc.

  • Fuel tanks on jets are in the wings AND body. Commercial airliners have 3 different tanks. The wings would be filled up first, and only if needed (for long distance hauls) you'd fill up the centre tank aswell. I bet it's no different on theese smaller jets, because the wings are limited in size, i'm pretty sure that's a centre tank for added range.

  • The axle the plane is sitting on is a dolly for tractor trailers with two trailers (sometimes know as b-trains). The dolly connects the back of the 1st trailer to the front of the 2nd trailer. The rear of the plane is sitting on the king pin, I believe that is what it’s called.

That have 100's+ of massive steel columns and concrete just the outside wall of the building. Plane made it all the way thru to the other side of the building to. Some videos you can see the nose of plane peak out on the other side of the building. :) Strange, very strange.
